Science is Amazing!
At Heolddu we think that science is amazing. We aim to instil in all our pupils a sense of wonder and inquisitiveness about the world around them. We pride ourselves on our use of practical work to allow pupils to investigate for themselves new ideas. Our laboratories are well equipped and all of our teaching staff holds at least one degree in their specialised subject.
Each year we organise a science week when we welcome outside speakers such as a mobile planetarium and lecturers from the local universities, carry out fun experiments and hold quizzes to further enrich our pupils experiences of science. A science club meets weekly to explore science outside of the National Curriculum.
At GCSE pupils study Core and Additional Science. The emphasis here is on science at work and how science theory impacts on our lives. Pupils can then go on to study A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
