WHY STUDY FRENCH?

Key Stage 3

Pupils will already have been given taster lessons in Primary school which gives them a head start in Year 7.  Lessons are designed to be interactive and interesting.  Language games enable pupils to acquire sufficient vocabulary to communicate totally in French.  Lunchtime clubs are available for pupils to further practice their language skills.  They will learn much about the culture of French speaking countries though both individual and group research.

WHAT WILL I STUDY FOR GCSE?

You will practice reading, listening, speaking and writing.
You will use IT. You will learn about the culture of French speaking countries. You will study the following topics:


Home life, school, food, health fitness
Self, family and personal relationships, hobbies, holidays, special occasions.
Home town and local area, the environment.
Further education and training careers and employment
Life in French speaking countries


Pupils get excellent results in French and many carry on to study A/S level.


French combines with many subjects at University and enhances employment options in a wide range of fields.
