Welcome to Heolddu Comprehensive School!

Located in the Rhymney Valley, this successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school serves the town of Bargoed as well as the villages of Deri, Aberbargoed and Brithdir in the Caerphilly LEA. Currently there are over 770 pupils on roll, including over 80 pupils in a vibrant 6th form, with 47 teaching staff.

The school has a five form intake offering a sound academic provision as well as excellent sporting and cultural activities.

Heolddu is a friendly school with excellent staff- pupil relations but this is set against traditional values on both education and discipline. The school plays a huge part in the community focus of Bargoed enjoying excellent links with a variety of voluntary groups as well as enjoying a flourishing partnership with local churches.

The school excels for charity causes, readily raising over £1000 for both Children in Need and Red Nose Day.

With kick-boxing, karate, street dancing, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, ICT, revision clubs, music lessons, language classes, technology groups and traditional sporting fixtures there is little time for boredom at Heolddu. Recently the school secured county successes in a technology competition and the Young Consumers competition.

We are indebted to e-infinity for developing and hosting the site ensuring that the Heolddu vision of “Opportunity for All” extends beyond the classroom.

Mr. P. M. JONES B.A. (Hons), MA (Ed), NPQH
